ITPA has agreed to help spread the word about a TOLA survey (along with several other organisations). The survey link has been removed, but the body of the survey notice is included below. Please consider completing the survey as it will provide valuable information about the impact of this legislation.

On behalf of the Information Technology Professionals Association, I invite you to complete a survey about the impact of the Telecommunications and Other Legislation (Assistance and Access) Amendment Act 2018. That legislation is also referred to as the Encryption Act, the Assistance and Access Act or more simply as TOLA.

The survey is part of a larger study examining the impact of TOLA over the last two years on business, innovation, trade, and inward investment. The study report will inform public policy making about encryption and encrypted services in Australia and other countries. Participation in the survey by ITPA members will give ITPA access to the study findings and report. This will help us to better represent your interests in our continuing discussions with government about TOLA and similar legislation.

The survey is being conducted by Clarity Strategic Research, an Australian market research organisation that is a member of The Research Society. Clarity is undertaking the survey on behalf of Law and Economics Consulting Associates (LECA), a consulting company with offices in Australia and the United Kingdom. In turn, LECA is conducting its study on behalf of the Internet Society of the United States (ISOC). In accordance with Research Society guidelines, Clarity will not disclose any of your personal information unless you agree to your contact details being shared for follow-up research.
